  • If one of your examination is to be conducted as an online examination, you will be informed in a suitable manner by your examiner.

(Updated on 22 June 2021)

8. Application for a change in the type of examination at the request of the examiner (As of: 12/2/2021)

  • Examiners can apply to the examination board for a change in the type of examination (e.g. from written examination to written paper) before the examination.

  • If an examination form should change, you will be informed in good time by the examiner in an appropriate manner.

(Updated on 22 June 2021)

9. Application for a change in the type of examination at the request of the student (As of: 4/2/2021)

  • According to the current Corona- statutes, students can  (under certain circumstances) submit applications to the examination board for a change in the form of examination due to Corona-related restrictions. They can also propose an alternative form of examination.

  • The examination board does not necessarily have to approve this application, except in cases of hardship.

  • The examination board will only grant such requests if both the urgent reasons provided for in the Corona Statutes and a hardship situation exist. It is not possible to change the form of examination, e.g. because of personal preferences, travel costs, travel time, or similar. Please note that according to the statutes, the urgent reasons must be proven, if necessary after the examination. If the proof is not submitted or is not applicable, the (approved) change of the examination form could be treated as an attempt to cheat.

  • If you want to file an application, please contact the Examinations Office by e-mail or during the telephone office hours

10. De-registration from examinations and free attempt regulations (As of: 4/2/2021)

  • Students can still deregister for the exam(s) independently via HISinOne up to 7 days before the exam (in the first attempt of the exam).

  • In addition, according to the Corona Statutes, students can withdraw (in the repeat attempt) or deregister (in the first attempt) up to 2 days before the examination. To deregister, please send an e-mail to the Examinations Office: pruefungsamt@tf.uni-freiburg.de.

  • In the current Corona Statutes there is a regulation on free attempts for examinations. However,  it is an option for the faculties and is not obligatory. Since the examination regulations at the faculty already contain free attempt rules and, in comparison with other faculties, it is also possible to withdraw from examinations at short notice, the Faculty of Engineering will not implement any additional free attempts by decision of the examination board.

11.Form on data collection in accordance with § 6 of the Corona Ordinance

  • The survey form (page 1) must be printed out in advance per person and for each individual event, completed in block letters and handed over to the responsible office. The information on data protection (page 2) remains with you.
  • You can find the form here!

According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, a written declaration by the students that they know and comply with the provisions on the entry and participation ban is no longer necessary. The corresponding signs in the buildings / at the building entrances are sufficient.

As a result, the "Declaration on the entry and participation ban" form is no longer required. The data collection form and the associated instructions for use have been updated accordingly and are available on the central university websites.

15. Review of examinations (as of: 4/10/2021)

  •  Examination reviews can take place individually and by appointment or in groups on site.
  • In accordance with the Corona Ordinance on the Operation of Studies of the Ministry of Science, persons must prove that they have been vaccinated, have recovered or have been tested (3-G proof) for attendance events - students and organisers alike.
  • The proof of testing, vaccination or convalescence must be presented by all persons taking part in the on-site exam review. The examiner must document the existence of a test, vaccination or convalescence certificate for himself/herself in a declaration.
  • Vaccines that are not licensed in the EU are not effective for vaccination proof according to the regulation. Participants who have been vaccinated with such vaccines must therefore present a negative test result or a certificate of recovery for the 3-G proof.
  • As of now, events that serve university purposes no longer need to be applied for and approved. This also includes examinations.

16. Is there a Corona-related deadline extension for the completion of semester-linked  examinations (as of 19/02/2021)?

LHG, §32 paragraph 5a, sentence 1:
"For students, the deadlines for the completion of subject-related study and examination credits in a degree programme are each extended by one semester if they are enrolled in this degree programme in the summer semester 2020 or in the winter semester 2020/2021."

This has been centrally stored in HISinOne.

Specifically, this concerns in particular the deadline for the orientation exam, for the fulfillment of conditional courses in relevant Master degree programs as well as deadlines for BAföG.

1. Enrollment in the Master if a Bachelor's degree is not yet available due to postponements of examinations

In cases where students cannot obtain their bachelor's degree due to postponed exams and therefore cannot be admitted to the master, a solution can only be found on the premise that the enrollment deadlines and especially the start of lectures are postponed. The subjects and the examination offices must assure that they will enable the examinations to be taken at the beginning of the lecture period.

2. Registration international students / fees, whose final exam had to be postponed to summer semester 2020

A re-enrollment for the 2020 summer semester is required. In this case there are no tuition fees of 1,500 euros. You only have to pay the semester fees of 155 euros by transferring the amount. http://www.uni-freiburg.de/universitaet-en/corona/studies-and-teaching

3. Registration SS 2020 due to postponements of examinations

In order to take examinations and study achievements, that are postponed to the summer semester 2020 due to the corona virus, you have to register for the summer semester 2020.  There will be no late payment fee of 10 euros for registrations after March 13th, 2020. De-registrations will not be carried out due to missing written coursework or will be withdrawn if the coursework could not be performed due to library closures or the prohibition of examinations.

5. Deadlines for submitting theses as stated in the official notices

The deadlines for the submission of theses mentioned in the notices of the examination offices were extended by the time of the library closure (5 weeks from 16 March 2020), unless the duration of the library closure has already been taken into account by the examination office when issuing the notice.

6. When were the exams from winter semester 2019/2020 rescheduled?

The period from April 20 to May 8, 2020 was used to make up for cancelled examinations  and to complete written study and examination papers that could not be processed due to the interruption of study operations from March 16 to April 19, 2020.

7. When were the exams in the summer semester 2020 taking place?

  • The examination office is currently planning to occupy 10% of the room capacity. For example, in the two large lecture halls in building 101, this means that only 20 examinees per lecture hall are allowed.

8. Application for an oral exam held as video conference outside the university or other institution

  • Due to the corona epidemic, the University of Freiburg allows oral examinations to be conducted as a video conference under the statutory provisions, even if the candidate is at a different location than the premises of the University of Freiburg or another comparable facility.
  • An application from the candidate is required for this. The application can be found at the bottom of following website: https://uni-freiburg.de/university/topics-in-focus/corona/studies-and-teaching/

9. Leaflet on conducting oral video conference exams outside the university or other institutions

  • The leaflet contains information on how to conduct oral exams as a video conference at the University of Freiburg in perspective of the current restrictions on study and exam operations due to the Corona Regulation of the State of Baden-Württemberg.

  • Oral examinations can generally be carried out as a video conference, even if the candidate is at a different location than the premises of the University of Freiburg or another institution. Insofar as this is provided for in the Corona statutes, this includes in particular study and examination achievements in the Bachelor, Master and Magister courses as well as the teaching degree at grammar schools and the state examination courses.
