The Faculty of Engineering of the University of Freiburg invites applications for an interdisciplinary

W2 Professorship for Gender Studies in STEM-Subjects

(„Technology, Gender and Science“)

to be filled as soon as possible.

The successful candidate should cover the field „Gender Studies in STEM-Subjects“ at the interface between mathematics, computer science, science or engineering and humanities/social sciences. A university degree in a STEM-field as well as significant research experience in gender studies in STEM is expected. Relevant research topics may include cognitive sciences, neurosciences, technical systems or social conditions and impact assessment of research in these fields. Research experience with strong applications orientation is of particular interest. Cooperation with other scientific groups within the Faculty of Engineering, with interdisciplinary research groups in the field of man-machine interfaces (such as the Cluster of Excellence BrainLinks – BrainTools), and Gender Studies researchers are expected. The professorship shall broaden the spectrum of courses in the Master’s-program Gender Studies. Additionally, we expect the development of new interdisciplinary courses in other research areas of the Faculty of Engineering.

Prerequisites for the employment of professors are a university degree, an outstanding dissertation, and an excellent publication record. Substantial achievements and experience in academic research and teaching, at the level of a Habilitation according to the German academic system, are expected.
